OCEAN_HK Workshop – Meeting with Stakeholders

2020-10-16

Thanks to the support from the stakeholders and the endeavor of the project members, OCEAN_HK successfully completed the fourth stage of its project. To share our latest findings and to facilitate interactive and in-depth scientific discussion, OCEAN_HK workshop was held at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) on 16th October 2020.

During the workshop, members from OCEAN_HK presented their latest discoveries about the status, cause, consequence and trend of eutrophication and hypoxia in the coastal waters off Hong Kong and proposed novel hypoxia mitigation strategy based on scientific findings. New perspectives were being brought to the project through the exchanges with government representatives from Environmental Protection Department (EPD), Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD), Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) Drainage Services Department (DSD) and Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) and young researchers from other universities worldwide. During these fruitful discussions, the project team was able to establish stronger connections with the community. We are looking forward to the next meeting to have further discussion with our stakeholders in order to create research synergy and contribute to the success of OCEAN_HK.
